Only a couple of days after Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers claimed he didn’t know who forward Christian Benteke was, it seems that the Reds boss has done his research rather quickly, because lo and behold, the club have announced they’ve signed the player from Aston Villa.
We all knew it was happening before the official announcement, given Liverpool broke Benteke’s £32.5 million release clause, and it seems that while there are some fans out there who are just pleased to not to have zoned in on another Southampton player – probably because there aren’t any left – there are those who think it is a waste of money.
As with any club, fan opinion is divided, but here are the best reactions from the Twitter community.
According to some people, Andy Carroll is better value for money…
£32M bought you Ronaldinho, now it buys you Benteke
£49M bought you Zidane, now it buys you Sterling
Almost as bad as the Freddo scandal.

10 years ago £32m would have bought you a Ronaldinho. Now it gets you a Benteke. pic.twitter.com/k1I9q6cVsO

A word to the wise…
Apparently we're "losing Benteke". Selling him for £32.5m is hardly the same as him falling behind the bloody sofa!!!
