Jake Humphrey’s innocent birthday message to his mum backfired after dirty-minded followers decided to take it the wrong way.
The popular sports broadcaster, who lives in Norfolk with his wife Harriet and their two young children, Florence and Sebastian, posted a photo of him and his mum on his Twitter page.
Along with the rather lovely photo of the pair, Jake wrote: ’69 today!! Love ya Mum.’ So you can imagine what people took from that, can’t you?
Yep, instead of reading it as the innocent message it was, people were amused by the fact he’d written ’69’ – because that’s still funny, apparently?
Such is the British sense of humour, people were quick to jump in and make comments, which has now resulted in Jake deleting the post.
Eye Tea Eff Sea (clearly an Ipswich Town fan) took to poke fun of people from Norfolk, writing:
Standard Norfolk behaviour that.
Somebody else wanted to make sure Jake knew ’69 is also a sex position’.
Erm, thanks ever so much for the clarification…
Another wrote:
Happy Birthday to your mum mate and hope she’s had a great day but please read the reply’s to this tweet mate and realise how it sounds!
I’m sure you’ll see the funny side yourself and may even copy the gif.
Josh Gore added:
Strange choice of birthday treat.
My.name.is.ian commented:
You maybe want to watch the wording of your tweet Jake.
Somebody called ‘Steve’ simply wrote: ‘Pervert.’ The real ‘pervert’ is probably Steve, but that’s not my place to say.
Some, however, focused on Jake’s choice of cardigan, with one writing:
Decent cardigan. I’ve got that.
Good to know, Adam. Good to know.
Another commented on how good Jake’s mum looked for her age, adding:
69???? Looks more like 49!!!! Happy birthday Jake’s mum!!!!
Earlier today (January 23), Jake shared an amazing post which was originally posted by fellow broadcaster Simon Thomas, who tragically lost his wife at the end of November.
Simon’s wife Gemma lost her life to Acute Myeloid Leukaemia just three days after her diagnosis.
Simon, who is a friend of Jake, has been sharing pictures of ‘snack notes’ he’s been giving to his eight-year-old son, Ethan, to ‘keep him going’.
Now, a stranger has taken it upon himself to write a note for every single day of 2018 for Simon, too.
In his latest post, Simon wrote:
Today’s #snacknote is a bit different.
Since Gemma went I have been so moved by the support and messages I get from people on here, people I haven’t even met, yet people who care about me and what I’m going through.
A guy called Dan Ritchie, who I have yet to meet (but will), had seen my notes for Ethan and felt I needed some too, to encourage me and help me keep going when I feel like giving up.
So he’s written me a daily note too – for every single day of the coming year! That’s #lightinthedarkness right there.
Jake shared the post with a message saying we need a ‘whole world of Dans’:
Well done, Dan.
