Getty If you’ve just made a move to a new club, you’d think pre season would be a fairly nice way to bed yourself in, get to know your new teammates and prepare for the season ahead.
Sadly for Bordeaux’s newest recruit, Jeremy Menez, that has not turned out to be the case, after he saw half his ear sliced off during a game.
Yeah, you read that right. Half of his ear.
Fair warning, the images are pretty gruesome, and you can’t blame the player for looking sickened by his injury – and of course he became a top trend on Twitter as pictures of the stomach churning injury circulated.

Menez will presumably now be spending some time on the sidelines as a surgeon does their best to reattach the ear.
