After finally putting the Paul Pogba saga to bed this summer in a world record transfer, Manchester United have already identified their next mega money target.
Gareth Bale.
United have long been admirers of Bale, and went head to head with Madrid when the Welshman left Tottenham Hotspur in 2013, only for the Spanish giants to blow them out of the water with an £86 million bid.
But now, United are trying to become the new home of the Galacticos, and see Bale as their next mega money signing, and are prepared to smash the £100 million mark to do it, according to the Daily Star.
Jose Mourinho has spent over £150 million this summer alone, but the funds for a potential move for Bale would certainly be there should the Special One ask for them.
Madrid are currently trying to tie Bale down to a whopping new contract worth £12 million per season, and secure the Wales star during his best years.
However, United believe that they have a trump card, as they have kit sponsors Adidas on board, who also sponsor Bale.
Adidas played a significant role in the Pogba transfer, and the Old Trafford outfit will look for their help again if they push ahead with a move for Bale.
The 27-year-old is reportedly happy in Spain, but he doesn’t get the kind of love and adulation that a certain Cristiano Ronaldo does at the Bernabeu.
That could be a key factor in Bale’s decision regarding the new contract, as he’d surely be one of United’s most loved players should he return to England.
Should the move go through, it would be the second time Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward have broken the world transfer record in the space of two years, and also the second time Bale himself has broken it.
Looks like United aren’t messing around as they try and return to the summit of world football.
