Jose Mourinho is stamping his all over his new Manchester United squad.

The Portuguese manager has already signed the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and wants to sign another midfielder before the transfer deadline.

However, one thing the former Chelsea manager was not expecting to have to pay out for was to get rid of one of his squad – Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The German veteran was signed by Louis van Gaal last season and struggled through his first year in England, missing large parts of the campaign through injury.

His future was thrown into doubt when LVG left, and it appears Jose doesn’t want the former Bayern Munich man as part of his squad, as he chases Paul Pogba.

But, due to the 31-year-old having two years left on his contract, it could cost United up to £14m to pay off the rest of his contract if they really are set on getting rid.

Schweinsteiger earns upwards of £120,000 per week, and if no club is willing to pay a transfer fee on top of his wages, the only way United can make him leave is to pay him off.

PSG were rumoured to be interested, which may be United’s only hope of claiming back some of the cash they’ve spent on the World Cup winner.
