If you didn’t already think Man v Food star, Adam Richman was a legend, then you certainly will now.

Richman has sponsored a Lincoln Sunday league football team which was originally set up in memory of Richard Broadley, who died of Leukaemia in 2011.

With ever-rising costs of Sunday league fees across the UK, Broadley FC manager, Matt Newton, sent him a message on Facebook on the off chance he might cover the pitch costs.

The star of the new ITV show, BBQ Champ, has thrown over £800 Broadley’s way to cover the cost of personalised jackets and team shirts.

Richman, whose cousin underwent treatment for lymphoma, claimed:

It is a deep honour to even be asked to sponsor a team with such a great mission and such beautiful respect behind its origin.

For Richard, for my cousin Blake and for all those bravely standing against the odds. In the spirit of the beautiful game, in the spirit of the passionate Mariners of Grimsby Town, I am honoured to join your fight.

He’s even offered to make an appearance for the side this season to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma charities.

What a guy.
