Manny Pacquiao has held a reputation for being one of the modern greats in the world of boxing.
Last night saw him take on newcomer Jeff Horn in a fight where his WBO Welterweight title was on the line.
However the result was marred by controversy in true boxing fashion!
Newcomer Jeff Horn stunned the world of boxing by defeating Pacquiao on points.
The fight, which took place in Australia in front of 50,000 people, was dubbed a bloodbath.
The judges awarded Horn the fight even though he came off second-best by almost every measure at Brisbane’s Lang Park, according to the Mirror.
Horn landed just 15 per cent of his shots compared to Manny’s 32 per cent, a total of 92 compared to 182.
This was Pacquiao’s first time in the ring since defeating Jessie Vargas last November to reclaim the title for the third time in his successful career.
Horn, who is a school teacher and referred to as “The Hornet”, was a relatively unknown compared to the 38-year-old World Champion.
Going into the fight, Pacquaio was naturally the bookies favourite – but he was humbled by the judges’ unanimous decision.
Critics have hailed 29-year-old Horn for his performance , going toe-to-toe with the Pac Man for most of the bout.
Despite The Hornet’s energy levels, he seemingly failed to land as many clean shots.
During the fight, Pacquiao suffered a cut to the hairline, the cause being an accidental clash of heads and Horn suffered a cut to the cheek.
In the ninth round Filipino Pacquiao showed his class with a series of excellent shots, leaving the right side of Horn’s face a mess – who was left stumbling around the ring, barely able to raise his hands.
Jeff Horn be winning money and title. Manny Pacquiao be winning hearts and respect. It’s always a big of a difference.#PacquiaoHorn

Horn somehow made it to the end of the round and despite the referee wanting to end it there and then, Horn’s corner pleaded for him to be allowed back in.
Critics believed the referee had been mindful that Horn had been strong up until that point and was the reason he allowed the fight to continue.
The ref warned Horn:
Show me something in the next round or I’m gonna stop the fight.
Pacquiao looked certain to get his first knockout since 2009 at this point.
Horn battled it out and managed to make it to the end of 12 rounds and to the shock of almost everyone watching – the judges awarded the contest to him, improving his record to 18-0-1.
