Floyd Mayweather is open to the idea of a rematch with UFC’s Conor McGregor… for a handsome sum of $1 billion, of course.
Nothing comes without a price and if you want to see Mayweather and McGregor touch gloves, it’s going to cost more than an arm and a leg.
50-and-0 Mayweather, who retired after beating UFC’s McGergor in August this year, has teased fans about his wish to return to the ring – albeit for the right price.
He revealed his ‘desire’ to return to the ring to make a billion dollars from ‘three or four’ fights on a recent Periscope live stream – basically, Mayweather was just being ‘Mayweather’, suggesting he could even compete in UFC:
In his braggadocious live stream Mayweather said:
You already know I’m a money-getting motherf*cker.
I’m Money May. They just called me not too long ago and asked me to come back.
I can come right back to the UFC. If I want, I can go, I can come right back to the UFC, I can go fight in the Octagon.
I can do a three or four fight deal in the Octagon and make a billion dollars. Remember, I’m Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, and you motherf*ckers love me, and I love you motherf*ckers.
Those last few comments have sparked a wild rumour ‘Money’ would fight ‘The Notorious’ McGregor on his terms this time, i.e. in the Octagon.
While it’s fair to say we should take Mayweather’s claims with a tiny pinch of salt, you have to admit, he’s a good hype man, I’d even be as bold to say his trash-talking skills (to sell fights) and hype are matched by his incredible skill in the ring.
Mayweather is many things – some of those things aren’t too pleasant, (I’m talking a laundry list of negativity), however one thing you can’t deny, is his quality as one of – if not the – best pound-for-pound champion, boxing has ever seen.
This was solidified when he beat Manny Pacquiao in 2015 and went 50-and-0 after he beat the brakes off of McGregor (who we should point out was competing in his first professional boxing match) last year.
However to suggest paying Mayweather $1 Billion dollars for a rematch is ludicrous (although stranger things in boxing have happened). Following August’s media press circus for a fight which boxing purists saw as an insult to the sport, ask yourselves: ‘Do we really want to go through it all again?’.

For McGregor the world is his oyster (when he’s not allegedly hiding from Irish mobsters), he’s already held preliminary talks to return to the ring to fight Pacquiao in 2018 and he’s gearing up to defend his UFC titles.
Speaking about a possible rematch with ‘Money’, Conor gave the most ‘McGregor’ response you could expect, telling Buisness Life:
What sickens me is that the little mother f*cker is retired now. If I had another go with him, under boxing rules, I’d get that win.
He had to change his whole approach. With those lessons I learned, with another go around, I’d get it.
He’s 50-0 and getting on, I’m not calling him out. I’ll sit back. We’ll see how he gets on with this round of money.
Maybe I’ll get another call? Originally, he was saying an MMA bout next. That’s what he said before the fight.
He did say an MMA fight. So if he wants to, lets f*cking do it. There’s not a hope in hell… I’d like to see him come over to our side and have a knock.
I earned their respect and put myself out there. Style over to my side and earn our respect now.
I guess whatever these two decided to do they’ll still rake in ludicrous amounts of money – whether there’s a rematch or not.
