Sergio Ramos has sent his best Mo Salah’s way, after taking him out in last night’s Champion League final in Kiev, (May 26).
The Real Madrid defender brought an end to Salah’s shot at glory some 30 minutes into the game. Devastated, he burst into tears as he was escorted off the pitch.
Now, Ramos has offered some words of support as Salah potentially faces missing out on the World Cup.
Taking to Twitter he wrote:
Sometimes football shows you its good side and others the bad. Above all we are fellow pros. Get well soon, Salah. The future awaits you.
It’s unsure how Salah is keeping but we know his teammate and Liverpool Football Club goalkeeper Loris Karius is having a categorically bad time.
‘Haven’t really slept until now…’ he wrote on Twitter. ‘The scenes are still running through my head again and again…I’m infinitely sorry to my teammates, for you fans, and for all the staff.’
He added:
I know that I messed it up with the two mistakes and let you all down. As I said I’d just like to turn back the time but that’s not possible.
It’s even worse as we all felt that we could have beaten Real Madrid and we were in the game for a long time.
Thank you to our unbelievable fans who came to Kiev and held my back, even after the game. I don’t take that for granted and once again it showed me what a big family we are. Thank you and we will come back stronger.
Speaking about the result, manager Jurgen Klopp said to Liverpool’s official wesbite:
It was a football game. We buy players, we sell players, we do exactly the same like Real Madrid, only maybe a little bit different opportunities but I’m fine with our opportunities. I really think – and it’s not a problem because nobody talks about it anymore – but if things would have been not that bad for us tonight we could have won the game. That’s how it is.
We were there, we were here, we did the things we are good in and, if they all stay on the pitch, we don’t make these kinds of mistakes – all if – then we can win the game. But now, things went how they went and we have to accept that, that’s all.
On Mo Salah’s early exit, he added:
Of course it was a big moment in the game. I know if you say something like that after a game you lost, it sounds like you are a little bit a bad loser but it was, for me, kind of a harsh challenge; it’s like wrestling a little bit and it’s unlucky then that Mo fell on his shoulder. It’s a serious injury; worse, a really serious injury.
The shock of the boys was obvious, we dropped a little bit deep and Real tried to use that for positive momentum, until we settled a little bit. It was quite difficult but 0-0 at half-time, we could adjust a few things – defending half-spaces, which we did before that really well, and then playing more football. And then the other decisive moments were the goals; they were quite strange, that’s how it is. We all know the result is 3-1 Real Madrid and that’s why we are not in the best mood obviously.
Gutting for Liverpool. Always next year, though.
