Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has made a rather bleak prediction for the Mayweather v McGregor fight.
In an interview on the podcast, Pardon My Take, Tyson said that UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor does not stand a chance against the undefeated welterweight boxer Floyd Mayweather.
He said:
McGregor is going to get killed boxing.
I got mad because I thought they were going to use MMA rules against boxing because that’s what it’s all about: can the boxer beat the MMA guy?
[McGregor] put his dumb ass in a position where he’s gonna get knocked out because this guy’s been doing this all his life since he was a baby.
[McGregor] can’t kick and grab and stuff … He’s not going to stand much of a chance.

What is most surprising about this isn’t the prediction itself but the fact Tyson has favoured Mayweather – a boxer he normally criticises.
Shortly after Mayweather’s 2015 fight against Manny Pacquiao, Tyson posted on Twitter:
We waited five years for that…
Tyson also hit out at Mayweather when Floyd called himself a better boxer than Muhammad Ali.
‘Delusional’ and a ‘very small scared man’ was how ‘Iron Mike’ described him.
Tyson’s beef with Mayweather started way back in 2001, but the former heavyweight clearly isn’t a fan of McGregor either.
Although Tyson doesn’t expect much from the fight itself, he admitted he loves the excitement surrounding it, mainly due to McGregor’s personality.
He said:
Conor is a character. Floyd has never met a character like this.
The $500 million mega-fight between McGregor and Mayweather takes place August 26.
