Muay Thai Boxer Suffers Most Horrific Injury After Elbow To Skull

This should go without saying but Muay Thai is a pretty dangerous sport and the injuries you can potentially pick up are quite to hard stomach, as proven by a French fighter, known only as Jeremy.

Last night on Facebook his training partner Johnny Betts posted a rather gruesome picture of a head injury caused to the Frenchman during a Thai kickboxing match on Monday.

Actually, ‘gruesome’ is a rather tame phrase in regards to the picture he posted, his injury made me jump up out of my seat and shout ‘WTF?!?’

Under the photos Betts wrote:

Bit of a nasty injury caused by a big elbow on Monday night at Patong stadium. He had surgery last night, wish him a quick recovery! #SkullFracture #MuayThai

The injury in question occurred during a bout at the Sainamyen Stadium Patong, in Thailand, where Betts and Jeremy train. During the fight, poor Jeremy took a lethal elbow to his forehead which left him a nasty looking dent after it was all over.

Despite being on the receiving end of an elbow blow to the head, which by rights could have given him a brain haemorrhage, he refused to throw the towel in and wanted to keep fighting till the end. It was only after the referee assessed his injuries and called off the match that Jeremy went to the hospital.

However according to Betts, Jeremy was fine, he wasn’t wobbling and would’ve gladly continued on with his fight if not for the timely intervention and stoppage by the referee (after consulting the ringside doctor).

Bett’s gave an update on his training partner’s condition, who was released from hospital on Wednesday, via Facebook, in which he wrote:

An update to yesterday’s post: Jeremy is now out of hospital following the surgery to fix up the fracture with a titanium plate. No brain injury and he was never even dizzy

If we’re being honest, it’s a miracle Jeremy’s brain is intact, the injury he received looked like someone dented his head with a 180pmh baseball.

If you think Jeremy’s injury was bad you haven’t seen what’s happened to poor old Putok Tor Surat who suffered the world’s worst split lip.

Warning: This Is Not Pretty

Damn, pretty intense right?

While we don’t want to stifle anyone’s encouragement to take up combat sports, just remember if looks are important to you, you may want to consider taking up another activity.
