Cristiano Ronaldo took an off-target shot during a training session which led to a TV reporter requiring stitches.

The mishap took place as the Real Madrid forward prepared for the Champions League final against Liverpool on Saturday evening, (May 26).

Media, including cameramen and journalists, took their places at the Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex as players from both sides trained.

In a video clip posted online by the official Champions League Twitter account, you see Ronaldo’s initial reaction and the clear guilt in the aftermath.

The TV reporter, Juan Lorenzana Prieto – who works for the Spanish language American TV station, Un was the unlucky, accidental target to Ronaldo’s wayward shot and required stitches to his eyebrow.

On the plus side, he did get Ronaldo’s training jacket, which the footballer gifted him as he walked off the pitch.

Now, that had to have stung a bit. We’re glad Juan is ok – he was all smiles as he posed for pictures with the training jacket in hand.

It’s nice to see footballer’s making kind gestures, because they’re heroes to many, and we’ve seen a lot of this recently, from charity donations to making fan’s dreams come true.

Derby County goalkeeper Scott Carson, Liverpool star Mo Salah, and Wales international Gareth Bale are just a few who’ve featured in heartwarming videos online in the past year.

Watch Scott Carson surprise a young Rams fan, Macauley:

And Liverpool’s Mo Salah played the most amazing prank on young fans recently.

In a video posted by Liverpool FC’s official YouTube account, the description reads:

20 school children, Premier League star Mohamed Salah, one giant prank and the Liverpool FC video you simply cannot afford to miss.

And you really can’t. The children’s faces throughout are worth a watch in itself:

The pupils were selected as part of the club’s Red Neighbours programme. Put into pairs, the kids picked up their microphones to ‘commentate’ on a clip showing Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over Arsenal during this past season.

Totally unaware of Salah listening in from backstage, as he scored in the footage, he burst through a paper screen to where the startled children were.

Legend.
