GettyAfter Ronda Rousey was shockingly knocked out by Holly Holm at UFC 193 on Saturday night and lost her world title, her ex-manager Darin Harvey had some pretty strong words for his former client.
On Sunday morning, in the hours following Rousey’s defeat, Harvey posted a tweet which linked to an old post on his Instagram account attributing her loss to something more than the fact that Holm was the far better fighter on the night.
He wrote:
KARMA. No need for revenge. Just sit back & wait. Those who hurt you will eventually screw up themselves & if you’re lucky, GOD will let you watch.
Rousey and Harvey aren’t exactly on good terms – he’s suing the UFC star over contract disputes between the two, after he served as her manager during her rise to the top of the sport.
He later opened up further about his feelings towards the former champ and his ex-client, plus his thoughts on Rousey vs Holm, in a telling interview with USA Today.
He said:
It was kind of bittersweet. Part of me was elated and part of me was saddened. The part of me that was saddened was that once I was identified with representing the top female fighter in the world. No longer do I have that title.
Darin Harvey/TwitterHarvey took on Rousey as a client during the early stages of her MMA career, but she fired him in 2013 shortly after her eight professional bout and win over Miesha Tate inside the Octagon.
The two are now in court trying to resolve their differences, with Harvey citing his role in developing Rousey into a media sensation by hiring a publicist and photographer to create press kits. He says he now stands to lose more than $1 million in legal fees and money he spent on Rousey’s career before he ever saw a return on his investment.
All in all, he says, “she’s not a good person”.

And she thought it would be OK that she didn’t owe me a dime. Just so much emotion. She was like a daughter to me at the beginning. She would spend the night at my house before all of her fights.
I created a monster. She believed she was as special as the press made her out to be. They give me absolutely no credit for the success of her career. She’s not a good person. You don’t forget where you came from. In a sense it was poetic justice because she’s wronged so many people that were there for her at the beginning of her career. To not be part of something I was instrumental in creating, has been very difficult.
Rousey has yet to respond to Harvey’s comments but we can’t imagine she’ll have anything too nice to say when she does!
