England’s substitutes came up trumps, as Daniel Sturridge struck a last gasp winner as England beat Wales to go top of Group B.

Gareth Bale scored a brilliant free kick to give the Welsh the lead, but some attacking substitutions by Roy Hodgson provided England with the firepower to get back in it.

Jamie Vardy scored the equaliser for the Three Lions, before Sturridge scored a late winner to claim the points for England.

As ever, Twitter was equally as brilliant as the game itself, and provided some excellent moments throughout the 90 minutes of Anglo-Welsh rivalry:

Here’s the best of the reaction:

Roy Hodgson opted to keep Jamie Vardy on the bench, which annoyed plenty:

When the action began, there was a fair bit of excitement when Wayne Rooney lined up England’s first corner:

England started well, but Raheem Sterling missed a sitter:

And some people were struggling as they bunked off work:

Why is it every time there’s a big football match on, the rugby fans pop up?

The commentary team of Robbie Savage and Martin Keown wasn’t going down well either:

But then it all livened up when Gareth Bale smashed a 35-yard free kick past Joe Hart:

Hodgson turned to Vardy at half-time, and the Leicester City striker’s fairytale continued:

Not happy with a point, Hodgson continued his attacking mentality by throwing on Marcus Rashford:

But then, Daniel Sturridge won it for England with seconds remaining:

So Roy’s boys won it thanks to the super subs, and now go into their game against Slovakia in full control of Group B – bring on the world.
