Before he got his ass handed to him by Clubber Lang in Rocky III, Rocky Balboa nearly got put on a hospital stretcher by the Hulkster
You know that famous Hulk Hogan catchphrase “Watcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you?”, well that happened to Sylvester Stallone on the set of 1982’s Rocky III.
As you can see from the Instagram post above Sly reveals how Hulk Hogan, who played the character of Thunderlips (what a great name BTW) nearly decimated him with his ’24 inch pythons’.
35 years after the film Stallone reminisced:
A violent move where he threw me into the corner , charged across the ring like an ENRAGED bull and leaped so amazingly high above me, that his shinbone actually came down [like a] giant tree on my collarbone , and I tumbled to the floor.
Apparently Stallone was too shook to look at his shoulder ‘for about 10 minutes’ because he was sure there was a bone coming out of his upper chest. If you thought that was bad spare a thought for the poor blokes on his stunt team.
Further on in the post he talks about how three guys got it so much worse than he did, revealing how:
he jumped into the audience to fight with the stuntmen , three of them had to be treated at the hospital.
Damn did someone not tell Hulk Hogan that he was only shooting a bloody film?
And you thought wrestling was all fake…
