Actor Sylvester Stallone has shared a video of himself smashing it at the gym as he prepares to return to the role of Rambo.
Showing age really is just a number, despite being 72-years-old, Stallone is still an absolute machine, lifting more weight than most of you, or I could ever imagine.
The veteran actor took to Instagram two days (September 13) ago to show he isn’t messing about when it comes to his workout regime.
Wearing a shirt with John Rambo’s mugshot emblazoned on it, Sly can be seen getting pumped during a hardcore workout at his private gym – while listening to the popular Guns N’ Roses song Welcome to the Jungle – pretty appropriate given the circumstances!
Stallone also made reference to the song in his caption:
Getting ready for Rambo. Totally immersed in it! 100%. Welcome to the jungle. [sic]
Check out the workout in the video below:
A fifth sequel to the popular 1982 film First Blood, which first introduced us to the troubled and reckless Vietnam veteran ,John Rambo, has been talked about a lot over the past decade.
Earlier this year Stallone actually joined in the conversation, teasing the project on his social media. He finally – and thankfully – confirmed Rambo 5 will hit cinemas next year.
Sharing what appears to be a poster for the upcoming film – which states it will arrive in ‘fall 2019’ – Sly wrote:
…Something wicked is coming this way! [sic]
Earlier this week Stallone further teased fans of the film, sharing an old school photo of Rambo in the jungle.
The caption read:
Starting soon and getting very excited. The world may be changing but not him. Nothing is over!
Receiving over 293,000 likes at time of writing (September 15), it looks like people are pretty excited to see the return of one of their favourite heroes.
With shooting set to take place in London, Bulgaria, and the Canary Islands, it’s likely Stallone will start filming soon, having just wrapped on the highly anticipated film Creed 2.
Creed 2 will see Stallone reunite with actor Dolph Lundgren 32 years after their characters went head-to-head in the ring in Rocky IV.
Lundgren played Rocky’s Russian nemesis, Ivan Drago, in the film, which saw the two rivals battle it out in a fierce 15-round match – with Rocky eventually coming out on top.
Despite his victory though, the fight essentially ended Rocky’s career, so we can’t wait to see him face off against Drago again.
Of course the Creed films focus on a younger generation of fighters meaning we’ll see Michael B. Jordan, best known for playing Killmonger in Black Panther, returning to the role of Adonis Creed, the son of Apollo Creed who was Rocky’s former rival.
Drago famously killed Apollo and so the film will follow Adonis as he seeks revenge by taking on Drago’s son in the ring.
Creed 2 will be released in US cinemas on November 21 this year. There’s currently no UK release date but I’m sure it won’t be too far away!
