One of the world’s greatest boxers – and most controversial sporting personalities – has just announced his retirement on Twitter in the most fitting way.
Tyson Fury today tweeted to his followers saying he was retiring from the sport with a 25-0 record.
The 28-year-old has come under fire recently over allegations of misconduct and drug abuse, and with a charming two-finger salute he told the world he’s finally had enough of boxing.
He defeated long-reigning champion Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, earning Fighter of the Year. But Fury – or Montana as he has now dubbed himself – was stripped of his IBF title and his planned rematch against Klitschko has been postponed twice.
Fury’s retirement announcement comes as no surprise to fans. Eddie Hearn recently claimed that Fury would never fight again after withdrawing from his rematch with Klitscko due to alleged mental health issues.
The controversial character, known for his strong fist and opinions that don’t pull a punch, will definitely go down in history whether he sticks to his guns to bow out of the sport or not.
