Tyson Fury has dropped a bomb on boxing fans by announcing he is not fit to face Wladimir Klitschko next month.
The fight, scheduled for July 9 in Manchester, was a rematch of the heavyweight title bout that saw Fury crowned WBA and WBO heavyweight champion. The Brit was stripped of the IBF belt after failing to accept a mandatory challenger.
Fury shared the news via his Instagram page that a sprained ankle has forced a postponement:

He told fans:
I have got a little bit of bad news for you all.
About 10 days ago, I was running in the lake district and went over on my ankle and sprained my ankle.
I’ve been to the hospital and had X-rays and MRI scans. They said it’s not broken but badly sprained, keep off it for six to seven weeks.
An image of Fury’s ankle was uploaded to Twitter, and in fairness to the controversial fighter it does not look pretty.
He added:
I tried to train and had a second opinion and had the same advice. The fight will be being postponed. Sorry to all my fans for letting you down but injuries do happen. It’s one of those things.
My apologies to everybody who has booked dates but the fight will be on as soon as possible. That’s all I know but the fight is still going ahead. Once the ankle gets better, we will reschedule.
The news has broken just a day after Fury was described as ‘mentally sick’ and like Hitler by his Ukrainian opponent.
Well, that is a major dent in what was supposed to be an epic weekend of sport – we still have UFC 200, Wimbledon’s finals, the Euro 2016 final, and the British Grand Prix to look forward to though…
