UEFA aren’t exactly the most popular governing body out there, so when news broke via French publication L’Equipe that Mamadou Sakho was set to be cleared after being accused of taking a banned substance, Twitter imploded.
The fat burning substance taken by the Liverpool defender isn’t actually on the list of forbidden substances, meaning he should never have been provisionally banned.
Said ban is now about to be lifted, but that doesn’t turn back time to the Europa League final, or put him in the France squad for the Euros.
FFS UEFA.
Here’s what Twitter had to say.
Liverpool fans had their say…
Incredible news. This probably saves Klopp a signing this summer. Centre back options of Lovren, Matip, Sakho, Gomez. Maybe Toure/Lucas.

Sakho feels like a new signing.

There’s hope for Sakho and the Euros, especially with the injury to Raphael Varane…
Sakho has told Le Parisien that he has been training on his own twice a day and is ready to play at the European Championships. #lfc

Before Sakho's ban, we hadn't lost 1 game in the Europa League.

UEFA were destroyed…
UEFA step up a level of utter incompetence as it emerges Sakho was banned for a substance NOT on the prohibited list & is set to be cleared

If Sakho not guilty news is true, then a) he really should file lawsuits vs UEFA and Guardian b) that Indigo lad should deactivate

You denied us the opportunity to see Kolo Toure play striker in his last game for the club. There's no place you can hide @UEFA we're coming

LOL…
Remember the piece The Guardian ran about kicking #LFC out the EL coz of Sakho? Presume if he's cleared they'll suggest awarding us the cup.
