But the five time Ballon d’Or winner was not at his best on Sunday afternoon, as he attempted a 25-yard effort against Villarreal.
Messi hammered his shot over the bar and into the crowd, where an unlucky fan took the full force of it.
The lady was clearly hurt by the shot – which reportedly broke her arm – for which Messi issued an apologetic wave.
