This woman biked around the world after her boyfriend said it would be too much for her and her journey looks incredible.

Biking across unknown terrain by yourself sounds a tad scary, but majorly exciting at the same time and after this woman’s boyfriend told her she couldn’t do it, she was even more determined to succeed.

Nikki Misurelli’s boyfriend at the time was set to go on a trip biking down from Alaska to Argentina, but when she asked if she could join, he told her it was a ‘guys only trip’ and she wasn’t up to it, the Independent reports.

He said:

It’s too dangerous and intense. You probably couldn’t handle it.

So taken aback by his sexist tone, the 30-year-old made the decision to get rid of her guy and do it herself and promptly sold all her belongings ready for the ride of her life

She told the Independent:

So we broke up and I went by myself.

Since splitting up with her boyfriend, Nikki has really shown him who’s boss as she’s racked up over 17,500 miles across the globe, completely by herself.

She souped up her bike making it into an ‘adventure bike,’ by adding dual sports tyres and cruised down the west cost of America, spending a while in Central America, before heading off to Europe.

Nikki told the Independent:

A lot of people just assume I’m rich. But it’s not true. I have no house and barely any possessions.

I pulled all my retirement money and sold almost all of my belongings. It’s amazing how little we actually need in life.

While on her travels, Nikki works part-time and carries a tent, hammock, sleeping bag plus a few clothes to keep her going.

She added:

I did some camping in the mountains but it was really cold – it was pouring down and I wanted somewhere warm, with no wind or rain.

I didn’t feel like socialising or finding an Airbnb so I just decided to go for it.

Despite the trip being a challenging one, Nikki says she is hardly ever nervous, simply because ‘ bad things can happen anywhere in the world, but there are more good people than bad.’

Australia, America, North Africa and the Middle East are all on her hit list next, as soon as she’s got some more funds.

Nikki’s achievements are pretty impressive and now she hopes to encourage more women to get out there and see the world.

She said:

I want women around the world to get out there and get travelling.

If you want something enough, you can make it work. That’s how I feel about travel.

What an incredible trip.

It’s so good Nikki had the courage to get rid of her boyfriend and do it on her own. It just goes to show what people can achieve if they really put their minds to it.

I bet her ex is feeling pretty sheepish now…
