Independent wrestler, Wayne VanDyke, has tragically died after suffering a heart attack in the ring aged just 29.
VanDyke, who fought under the name Richard Delicious, was partaking in an event in Florida on April 29 when he began to feel extremely unwell before having a heart attack, reports Wrestling News.
He was quickly rushed to hospital but suffered another heart attack en route and one more when he arrived at the hospital – forcing medical staff to put VanDyke into a medical induced coma to prevent any more.
VanDyke also allegedly suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung while he was receiving CPR.
In a heartbreaking Facebook post made yesterday, VanDyke’s family confirmed that the 29-year-old had passed away.
Richard Delicious was a former ACW light heavyweight champion and two-time cruiserweight champion who seemed to have a lot ahead of him.
In the aftermath of VanDyke’s untimely death officials from the World Wrestling Network announced they would be donating profits from the FIP and Style Battle events later this month to aid with his medical expenses.
Our thoughts go out to VanDyke’s family and friends at this hard time.
