Sunday May 19… that date rings a bell, in fact it rings several bells and tonight fans of violence for entertainment purposes face a dilemma.
WWE is rolling into the XL Center, Hartford, Connecticut, tonight for one of the year’s most anticipated pay-per-views, Money In The Bank.
The event is featuring a stacked card including the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match featuring
Finn Balor, Andrade, Randy Orton, Sami Zayn, Ali, Baron Corbin, Ricochet, and Scotland’s own Drew McIntyre.
The Scottish Psychopath kindly took time out of his schedule, and perhaps more pertinently from viewing his side Rangers’ victory over Celtic in last week’s Old Firm derby, to speak to UNILAD about his bid for a guaranteed title-shot.
For those unfamiliar with the Money in the Bank Ladder match, it features eight of WWE’s biggest stars, a lot of ladders, and a briefcase dangling precariously above the squared-circle, which once claimed gives one athlete a guaranteed title shot, wherever and whenever they elect to cash it in – Money in the Bank, get it?
McIntyre has fought hard to get back to the pinnacle of sports entertainment. Once dubbed ‘the chosen one’ the 33-year-old, whose career is already well into its second decade, was axed from WWE in 2014 but set the independent circuit alight. The graft and star power he brought to other organisations didn’t go unnoticed, and after joining WWE’s NXT brand in 2017, McIntyre is primed to complete what was once prophesied.
McIntyre hasn’t battled to this point to see his shot at glory overshadowed, however, and as Money in the Bank is going head-to-head with the Game Of Thrones finale, the man mountain has a message for fans of fantasy.
He told UNILAD in no uncertain terms:
I need to start watching it I guess, everyone is obsessed with it.
Money in the Bank will feature live stunts instead of all this fake Game Of Thrones stuff with its post-editing…
The truth is, you have your DVR and it’s not live, Money in the Bank is live. You want to get that live experience and I guarantee you these matches will blow your mind!
McIntyre continued:
We have Seth Rollins vs AJ Styles which is a bit of a dream match for the Universal Title.
Becky [Lynch] is on fire right now and she has two matches! On top of all that you have got the men’s and women’s Money in the Bank ladder matches where anything goes.
There’s every weapon imaginable, the men are looking to top the women’s match, the women are looking to top the men’s match, so there is a multitude of things to see.
Again, most importantly, Game Of Thrones is not real.

Drew’s wrestling persona cuts a far scarier figure than that of his clean cut early WWE days, and he credits his upturn in fortune to nothing other than hard work and taking his career seriously. Cutting out negative influences such as alcohol, hitting the gym more regularly than he ever has, and giving diet his proper attention.
It has worked.
Money in the Bank is slated to start at midnight, rolling into the early hours of Monday morning which is where the overlap with Game Of Thrones comes in, with the final episode of season 8 at 2am UK time.
Other matches on the powerful Money In The Bank card include:
