A young American inventor has developed new smart technology that should stop motorists attempting to text while driving.
T.J. Evarts is the man behind the Smart Wheel, a steering wheel cover that tracks when a driver does and does not have two hands in place.
If after four seconds only one hand is detected a buzzer is triggered, along with a red light, to alert the driver that they are letting the required standard slip.

All the data collected by the Smart Wheel is collated on an app, which drivers or concerned parents can then analyse at their leisure.
But technology does not come cheap, and upon release later this year each wheel will allegedly cost $199 (roughly £135). Ouch.

Although, you could save yourself a pretty penny and potentially numerous lives if you just learn to put the phone down without relying on an installed app telling you to.
