You may remember, very recently, Samsung’s orchestrated leak of their upcoming Galaxy Note 9 smartphone – have Apple just done the same thing in relation to their new iPhone X?
After the ‘leaked’ images from Samsung, the first official preview of the phone, followed.
The image in question came via a form of a pre-order offer for customers in New Zealand, and despite just the back of the phone being visible, it still showed the Galaxy Note 9‘s S-Pen stylus, USB-C connector, and a headphone jack.
It was very similar to the previous model – the Note 8 – with its dual camera, flash, and fingerprint sensor – which is now positioned in the middle beneath the lenses.
A Russian retailer also leaked the model’s specification, which included: a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display, a dual 12-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front camera, a 4,000mAh battery, and a 128GB of memory to name a few.
But it seems those interested in Apple products may have just got a sneak peak at the company’s latest gadget, thanks to a recent beta of iOS 12.
According to reports, the info was originally leaked by Brazilian site, iHelpBR, and states, the current beta of iOS 12 hides 5 codes which reveal Apple’s 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus will be able to operate in landscape mode – similar to an iPad – due to its 2688 x 1242 pixels resolution.
The landscape mode for original apps such as Contacts and Calendar have been reserved for other Plus models, but the notch of the 5.8-inch iPhone X presumably got in the way.

In related news, the iPhone X Plus may contain dual SIM cards.
According to 9to5Mac, they’ve found evidence, with iOS 12 developer beta 5, dual-SIM support is indeed coming to iPhone, at least at the software level.
If the tech-talk is a bit too much for your brain to handle, this is how they break it down:
A component of the system responsible for the generation of diagnostic reports includes new references to ‘second SIM status’ and a ‘second SIM tray status’.
Another component references a ‘dual sim device’. Those references are clearly an indication that iOS is being updated to run in a future device with support for two SIM cards, as seen in the screenshot below.
The mention of a ‘second sim tray’ indicates it would in fact have two physical SIM cards instead of a regular one and an e-SIM as the second.
I still don’t get it either!
Earlier this year, you may have seen Samsung were ordered to pay Apple $539 million for copying Apple’s iPhone features.
According to Gizmodo, a jury, which after deliberating for five days, decreed the South Korean company had copied Apple iPhone technology in their own gadgets.
Samsung said in a statement:
Today’s decision flies in the face of a unanimous Supreme Court ruling in favour of Samsung on the scope of design patent damages.
We will consider all options to obtain an outcome that does not hinder creativity and fair competition for all companies and consumers.
Don’t @ me, but technically, aren’t all phones pretty much the same anyway? They all text, all call, all have internet access – well most. Seems a lot of fuss over a little gadget!
