Apple have just announced a new phone so obviously the world is frothing at the mouth to get their hands on one.

The brand new iPhone X (which is actually pronounced 10) had one feature that has everyone talking.

That’s right, Apple have gone full Black Mirror and installed a facial recognition feature on their latest model.

Craig Federighi, Apple senior vice president, was extolling the virtues of FaceID, telling the audience how easy it would be to operate and how secure the phone would be as a result.

Things, obviously, didn’t go according to plan when he attempted to demo the feature in front of the audience in the room and no doubt the millions watching at home.

Federighi was left completely embarrassed when he tried to lift the phone to his face, only to be told to enter the code for the phone because it had failed.

Before the goof, he said:

With iPhone X, your iPhone is locked until you look at it, and it recognises you. Nothing has ever been more simple, natural and effortless. We call this Face ID. Face ID is the future of how we unlock our smartphones and protect our sensitive information.

To be fair, many techy people have pointed out how it could just be a simple error because the phone had just restarted, which as we all know means you have to enter the code first time.

That means the technology was probably actually sound and not faulty at all, it’s just an unfortunate error.

Despite this error, the phone has blown up the internet with its new features, including wireless charge, OLED display, and lack of home button.

If you want to take a step into the future though, you’ll have to fork out an absolutely unconscionable amount of money.

The most expensive version of the iPhone X is £1,149, so if you want the device, you’d better get saving.
