Apple is reportedly releasing a 16-inch MacBook Pro and a 32-inch 6K monitor at some point this year.
In a research note given to 9to5Mac, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the company is set to make the biggest screen on a MacBook since the 17-inch models, which stopped being sold in 2012.
Kuo announced his predictions of what Apple products we can expect to be released every year. As well as the bigger MacBook, the 13-inch MacBook Pro might become available with up to 32GB of RAM. That amount is currently only available in the 15-inch models on the market. This brand-new Mac will have ‘easy to upgrade components’ and be launched in 2019.
The analyst also believes the company will release a 31.6-inch 6K display.
Apple has taken a break from making displays ever since it released the Apple Monitor in 2011.
The 27-inch flat panel computer monitor was discontinued in 2016, making it the last standalone display designed and sold by Apple.
According to Kuo, this new display will feature a ‘Mini LED-like backlight design’, giving it “outstanding picture quality.”
The predictions didn’t stop at desktops. A new iPad Pro is expected with its size increasing from 9.7-inches to 10.2-inches. A fifth-generation iPad Mini is also expected with a new model not being released since 2015.
iPhones aren’t expected to get big changes, with the same screen sizes anticipated. Bilateral wireless charging is expected in the XS and XR models, meaning the phones would be able to charge other devices, including updated AirPods.
While these are leaks and not confirmed by Apple, Kuo is noted to be a reliable source of information.
2019 will be a big year for Apple with the launch of this brand new hardware expected. Some of the first announcements could come as soon as March so keep an eye out.
