In partnership with Badoo
If you thought 2017 was going to be ‘your year’ and it still hasn’t been ‘your year’, we feel you. Still not found your dream career path? Still not mastered the dastardly water bottle flip? Some things are unlikely to ever change – but thanks to Badoo, the giant dating app with a curious celebrity ‘Lookalikes’ feature, you might finally bag a half decent date.
Celebrity lookalikes feature you say? Does this mean I can now date someone who looks slightly like a celebrity I’ve always fancied? Bingo. The feature, which uses some kind of complex facial mapping technology, analyses the face of your favourite celebrity and shows you the profiles of all the people on the app who look like them. It’s the dating app development you never knew you needed, but won’t be able to live without.
Or, for those who are more of a fan of the more *conventional* dating app approach, Badoo lets you swipe through its whopping 360 million users and visit a section that shows you who’s nearby, who’s online and who you’ve bumped into throughout the day.
#BadooLookalikes has launched! Try it now and find profiles that look like your favourite celebrity or a crush…? https://t.co/GdwfIGVM2X pic.twitter.com/f9KYpC74Y2

The company, based in London, is also waging a war against ‘catfishing’. Through extra security and verification processes, you no longer risk falling for the girl of your dreams who actually turns about to be a 58-year-old bloke from Barnsley. In fact, when you join the app, you’re asked to send a selfie mimicking a suggested gesture, just to prove you really are who you say you are.
On top of this, Badoo says it’s the first dating app to launch live video chat. Meaning, you can suss out your date from the comfort of your own home, with little need to do anything other than make sure you are dressed from the waist up.
So, with celebrity lookalikes, access to the world’s biggest dating pool, targeted search options and more safety precautions than you can shake a stick at (if you’ll pardon the pun), it’s easy to see why so many people choose Badoo. If you want to give the app a go, you can download it on Android and iOS here.
