If you’re a city dweller, there’s no better time to invest in a bike like the New York bike from Brompton. It’s light, loaded with some subtle safety features and it’s comfortable to ride.
People cycle for various reasons, from trying to do their bits for the environment by not driving a fuel burning and CO2 emitting car to getting and staying fit or just wanting to find a better way to commute in a big city.
Brompton bikes are no ordinary bikes, and the world of cycling are very familiar with them. In fact, they remind me of Apple products, in that once you ride one, you tend to become loyal to the brand and want to know more about them.
Speaking to the team there, they were very passionate about what they do and the detail that goes into making their bikes.
The new New York edition is a folding bike designed in collaboration with Vespertine NYC to give it that New York look. The patterns are a mashup of various NYC landmarks, like the Chrysler Building and the Manhattan Bridge with a reflective finishing for riders’ safety, yet it doesn’t lose its overall design language and what it stands for to its users.
To make it suitable for city cycling, it features a flat bar with ergon grips for a better riding position, Kojak tyres which are sporty and slim, reflective decals for safety, and a USB rechargeable saddle light with a regular Brompton battery/USB set for bettery visibility at night.
Alongside the bike, you can also get matching accessories from a woolly hat to scarfs that not only provides warmth but also uses 3M reflective threads so that other roads users can see the rider from over 2,000 feet away.
The New York City Edition comes in two configuration options, the 2 or 6 gear options and can be purchased from Brompton Junction stores and selected retailers worldwide. Stay tuned for a full review when we get our hands on them.
