This couple really didn’t have a lotto luck…
They picked out winning Lotto numbers but have missed out on a life-changing amount of money, because their payment didn’t go through.
Edwina, 55, and David Nylan, 60, used the mobile app to enter the draw on December 23rd, but say a technical glitch meant it wasn’t recognised. Gutted doesn’t even cut it.
When their numbers came up, they realised they had managed to get all seven and phone up to claim the £35,410,34 jackpot. But their wildest dreams turned into an absolute nightmare when they were told their entry hadn’t actually worked. Doh.
Edwina said:
I am gutted, but what can we do? I have just had to carry on with things and not get too down. Shocked isn’t the word, but as a family we stick together and just have to be grateful for what we’ve got.
Edwina – who has seven grandchildren – said when they tried to buy the £2 ticket their online Lotto account showed it did not have enough funds.
They attempted to top it up so they had enough money in their account and then tried again with the numbers 01 – 02 – 04 – 19 – 28 – 41.
But despite the app confirming that their purchase had gone through, Camelot say that there is no record of the transaction.
You’d think this would have put the couple from Fleetwood, Lancashire off the Lottery for life, but despite the disappointment they are still playing and are now battling with Camelot to get the money they say they’re owed.
Edwina added:
My husband is 60 and still working many hours a week, and I have a sister who was brain damaged when she was just nine months old and she can’t walk very well and needs a motorised wheelchair.
Camelot did come out and confirm that the couple did make multiple attempts to buy a ticket- but cannot confirm whether they would have won or not.
Oh, the joys of technology. I bet they wish they had just picked up a paper ticket like in the good old days…
