Elon Musk has announced he’s to build new houses using LEGO-like blocks made out of rocks, in yet another example of him being the most innovative man of our times.
His Boring Company is currently working on fitting ‘Loop’ and ‘Hyperloop’ transit systems in LA, Chicago and Maryland.
He wrote on Twitter:
New Boring Company merch coming soon. Lifesize LEGO-like interlocking bricks made from tunneling rock that you can use to create sculptures & buildings. Rated for California seismic loads, so super strong, but bored in the middle, like an aircraft wing spar, so not heavy.
He added how the ‘first kit set’ will be ‘ancient Egypt’, with ‘pyramids, Sphinx, temple of Horus, etc’.
All this is probably taking a back seat at the minute though, judging by the goals he wants to achieve by 2030.
Top of his priority list is getting the Model 3 production on track and to hit 5,000 cars per month by March 2018, reports Futurism.
Around the same time, Tesla promised an update to its self-driving car software, bringing them closer to reaching Level-5 autonomy before 2020.
Then there’s the Boring Company’s tunnel under Los Angeles, creating the most advanced transportation system ever seen.
Three years down the road in 2020, Musk has for the Tesla Roadster 2.0 and if plans for the Model 3 production go smoothly, then Tesla should be producing one million of the electric vehicles (EVs) every year.
If he’s really on track, by 2021 Musk should have completed the Tesla gigafactory in China and will start manufacturing EVs.
2022 could be Musk’s biggest year with the first planned cargo mission to Mars aboard a Big Falcon Rocket (BFR) – the new reusable rocket would become the standard spacecraft used for SpaceX missions in an effort to make space travel more affordable.
As well as these deadlines, Musk has other huge goals, such as the Hyperloop ‘pusher pod’, which he got up to 220mph.
He said he believes he’ll soon hit half the speed of sound and aims to break speed records.
Musk recently took part in the #DeleteFacebook challenge, where individuals and companies are deleting their Facebook pages following the social media platform’s Cambridge Analytica scandal.
Many people have lost trust in the social media giant after it became apparent data from around 50 million users had been harvested by political analytics firm, Cambridge Analytica.
Musk will reportedly be keeping his companies’ accounts on Instagram, which is also owned by Facebook.
However, he’s described Instagram as being ‘borderline’ due to Facebook’s influence ‘slowly creeping in.’
Facebook co-founder, Mark Zuckerberg, recently made the following statement on the Cambridge Analytica scandal through a Facebook post:
We have a responsibility to protect your data and if we can’t, then we don’t deserve to serve you.
I’ve been working to understand exactly what happened and how to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
The good news is the most important actions to prevent this from happening again today, we’ve already taken years ago. But we also made mistakes, there’s more to do, and we need to step up and do it.
He continued:
I started Facebook and at the end of the day, I’m responsible for what happens on our platform. I’m serious about doing what it takes to protect our community.
While this specific issue involving Cambridge Analytica should no longer happen with new apps today, that doesn’t change what happened in the past. We’ll learn from this experience to secure our platform further and make our community safer for everyone going forward.
I want to thank all of you who continue to believe in our mission and work to build this community together. I know it takes longer to fix all these issues than we’d like, but I promise you we’ll work through this and build a better service over the long term.
