GettyWe all love Facebook but there’s nothing worse than having your news feed filled by those pesky users who share a ridiculous amount every day.
But fear no more, the assault on your eyes could soon be over, as the social media site is making some much needed changes.
In an aim to make news feeds more ‘informative’, the site will start hiding posts from users who spam with click-bait and sensationalised articles.
GettyIn a statement on their site, Facebook said:
Today we are making an update to help reduce low quality links in News Feed.
Our research shows that there is a tiny group of people on Facebook who routinely share vast amounts of public posts per day, effectively spamming people’s feeds.
Our research further shows that the links they share tend to include low quality content such as click-bait, sensationalism, and misinformation.
As a result, we want to reduce the influence of these spammers and deprioritise the links they share more frequently than regular sharers.
This policy will only apply to links for individual articles and domains leaving pages, videos, photos, check-ins and status updates unaffected.
GettyFacebook is also due to roll out a new ‘Discover’ tab for Messenger that makes it easier for users to find and engage with brands and chat-bots.
The move is a part of the company’s strategy to make the Messenger app a go-to communication platform between users and businesses.
