APIn a turn of events which wouldn’t be out of place in a sci-fi film, there’s apparently a good chance we could all achieve ‘electronic immortality’ during our lifetimes.
Yeah, really. A futurologist had claimed that all our thoughts and experiences could be uploaded and stored online for future generations to come.
Big Bang FairHe believes not only that technology will be able to merge computers and humans, but also create a completely new species- Homo optimus. Oh, and this could all happen as soon as 2050, apparently.
These bold predictions were made by Dr Ian Pearson in the lead up to The Big Bang Fair 2016, the Daily Mail reports.
Within the next 35 years there’s a very real possibility that human could ‘live’ online and our pets could even talk to us. Because, how could no-one want to make this happen?
Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said:
With optimised genomes and bodies enhanced by links to external technology, people could be more beautiful…more intelligent, more emotionally sophisticated, more physically able, more socially connected, generally healthier and happier all round.
As we slowly but surely embrace more advanced technology we could start to become androids, meaning Homo sapiens could be replaced by Homo optimus.
Big Bang FairSpeaking in the ‘Future Human Report’, Ian said: “This would allow people to have multiple existences and identities, or to carry on living long after their biological death”.
Despite this technology being predicted to be ready by 2050, it could be cheap enough to become widespread by 2070.
