If you’re anything like me then when you get into bed at night one of the first things you do is pop open a new tab and load up YouTube.
Like a bizarre insomniac vampire who needs videos about dogs to survive you are soon down the rabbit hole!
But like so many Millennials I frequently struggle with how bright the screen is in the darkness of my room and it sometimes ruins my enjoyment of Jenna Marbles ‘How to Care For Your Cermet’ videos.
Anyway the good people over at Google clearly enjoy some night time YouTube as well as they’re experimenting with a brand new feature called ‘Dark Mode’, The Verge reports.
This mode doesn’t transform YouTube into some sinister video site where you can’t find a cat video no matter how many times you mash the search button all it does is change the bright white to a rather sleek black.
Here’s how to make YouTube go black…
First make sure to update to the most recent version of Google Chrome…

Hit Ctrl + Shift + I on Windows, or Option + Command + I on Mac to open up the developer window…

Select the console tab…

Paste the following text: document.cookie=”VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE=fPQ4jCL6EiE” and press enter…

Close the developer window, refresh your browser, and now a new dark mode toggle should be available in the main settings menu!

So enjoy your new shiny black YouTube and you know what they say about going black!
