If You’re Lonely You Can Now Get Drunk With This Shot-Downing Robot

Drinking alone can be pretty depressing so one inventor has decided to rectify that situation by building a shot drinking robot buddy for you to party with.

The aptly named ‘Drinky’, created by South Korean inventor Eunchan Park, is an absolute machine at knocking back the tequila.

Rather heartbreakingly, Park was inspired to create the table-top drinking buddy after spending Christmas all by himself three years ago, when he spent the whole holiday drowning his sorrows by drinking alone.

According to Endgadget, Park reckons the robot will take the drinking experience to another level, as Drinky joins you around the table, motions for a refill whenever his glass gets empty, and then raises it for a hearty ‘cheers’ when it’s been filled.

After downing the booze, Drinky’s cheeks even glow red and the alcohol pours down his throat and into an empty jar mounted at its base, which means the alcohol is recyclable too – a handy trick that your other beer loving mates definitely can’t do.

The inventor decided to build the robot after realising that clinking glasses would make the solo drinking experience less lonely.

Writing on YouTube, Park said:

This robot’s name is Drinky. He drinks really well! On Christmas in 2012, I drank Soju (Korean alcohol) alone because I had no girlfriend at that time. Drinking alone was definitely terrible!! So I couldn’t drink anymore. I put an extra glass in front of me and poured Soju into it.

And then, I cheered by myself with the glass of Soju, as though there was someone in front of me. Surprisingly, after that, the taste became totally to be changed!!!!!! WOW!!! So, I could finally find the secret … [the] taste of alcohol totally depends on [the] existence of [a] partner. This is why I made this robot.

Hey, at least this guy won’t get out of hand after drinking one too many, but what happens when you get so pissed you tell little Drinky that he’s your “best mate” and he doesn’t respond in kind? Things could get pretty awkward…
