Just in case you’ve been living under a rock for the last couple of weeks, you might have noticed that the iPhone 7 launched worldwide.

The new phone is pretty similar to the old phone, except the fact it’s a lot more expensive, lacking a hole for headphones and comes in a brand spanking new box. Exciting times, right?

And while most of the world’s negative attention turned on the ear-pods, which you’d definitely lose just by looking at them, another problem emerged and it’s freaking everyone out.

Those who decided to get their hands on the brand new gadgetry are reporting that their phone is hissing them, like some angry snake.

The problem was first noticed by Stephen Hackett of 512 Pixels:

Apparently when the iPhone is put under a large amount of pressure it’ll start making hissing noises, which come from the back of the phone.

And because the human race now gets bored of all that technological jargon, the whole thing has simply been dubbed ‘hissgate’. So original.

This is just yet another supposed scandal which often follow iPhone releases, which in the past have included the likes of bendgate and antennagate.

Engineers have since suggested that the sound might be something called ‘coil whine’, which is basically the noise that electrical components can make when they’re operating.

Apple website iMore tested out the iPhone 7 alongside other Apple products and they found out that there was a noticeable hiss coming from both the 7 and 7 Plus, but this problem was no different to other similar devices.

So in a nutshell it’s probably nothing to worry about.
