KoenigseggSweden’s new 1,600hp twin-turbo hypercar is set to become the fastest vehicle in the world.
Koenigsegg unveiled the new Jesko hypercar at the Geneva Motor Show, promising that the vehicle would be able to top a whopping 300mph. The car has been named after CEO Christian von Koenigsegg’s father, who helped him start the company when he was just 22 years old.
Details on the company’s website show the Jesko has a re-designed 5.0 litre twin-turbo V8 engine, which helps it produce 1280hp on standard fuel and 1600hp on E85 biofuel. It’s also got a new nine-speed Koenigsegg Light Speed Transmission (LST). Thanks to its huge front splitter and tilting rear wing, the car has around 800kg of downforce at 155mph, 1,000kg at 171mph and 1,400kg at top speed which remains undisclosed for the time being.
The engine is the world’s lightest V8, tipping the scales at just 189kg.
As well as looking fantastic, the Jesko has been able to hit record-breaking speeds in simulations. The current fastest car in the world is the Agera RS, which is able to hit a top speed of 277mph. It can also do 0-62mph in just 2.6 seconds. The Jesko is set to take on the likes of Bugatti and Hennessey, helping to keep the title in Sweden.
According to Top Gear, Koenigsegg are only set to build 125 Jeskos. They will only be able to build them at a rate of around 40 to 50 a year. The Swedish manufacturer also plans to release a track version of the car alongside the road-legal car. Full performance specifications and pricing information for the Koenigsegg Jesko are yet to be announced, but we can guess that this model will certainly be worth millions.

It’s unclear whether Koenigsegg will ever make a gas-powered car after this one. The industry is moving to electric alternatives and the Swedish manufacturer will be sure to follow the trends set out. But for the new owners of the Jesko, they probably won’t be too bothered about the environment when they’re speeding off at 300mph.
