Some of the world’s most popular websites have been brought to an agonising halt following reports of a potentially major cyber attack.
Netflix, Spotify, Twitter, Reddit, and Amazon have all been hit, reports the Daily Star.
A distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack has hit the systems of Dyn, Inc. one of the largest internet service providers on the planet.
Dyn is responsible for the running of Domain Name Servers, or ‘DNS’ as you are probably more used to seeing on your computer screens.
An attack on DNS servers brings the internet to a halt by preventing servers from connecting web users to the site addresses they input.
The news follows a potential attack on the Playstation Network.
Whoever is responsible could at least have waited til Monday instead of the start of the weekend to fuck with the world…
