Everyone’s favourite flip phone from the noughties, the Motorola Razr, is returning to the shops with a new makeover!

The phone that was released 15 years ago was one of the most popular devices in the world, before the iPhone burst onto the scene in 2007.

A special partnership between telecoms company and Motorola’s parent company Lenovo will bring a 2019 Razr back into the shops.

The Wall Street Journal reports the device will have a foldable display, in keeping with current trends in the smartphone world.

Samsung are set to be unveiling their smartphone with a similar OLED display February 20.

The exclusive deal could see the handset on sale in the US as early as February.

While only 200,000 units are expected to be released initially, if the phone proves to be popular, that number is likely to increase.

As well as a brand-new display, another big difference between the original and the new version will be the price.

The first edition cost around $600 at the time of release, making it one of the most expensive phones on the market, at the time. The new version could cost as much as $1,500 which may put some people off buying the handset.

It begs the question: will anybody actually buy this phone? The Razr holds a special place in a lot of people’s hearts, for being the smartphone an entire generation of now-adults were bought as their first mobile phone.

First released in 2004, it sold over 50 million units worldwide, before being replaced by the Razr2 just three years later.

For those not old enough to remember the age of flip phones, they were incredibly fashionable at the time! Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Blackberry and many other big brands also had gadgets with a similarly trendy style.

As touchscreens grew in popularity thanks to the iconic iPhone, users wanted to do more than just make calls – and look good doing it. It seems someone at Lenovo missed having a Razr in their life tremendously.

If you’re looking to bring some 2000s nostalgia into your life, this could be the phone for you!
