LG are looking to change the smartphone game next month when they reveal a new kind of phone at the Mobile World Conference (MWC) in February.

According to reports, the South Korean electronics company are believed to be revealing a smartphone that will have an option to attach a second-screen.

If you thought that one screen was enough for a smartphone, think again.

An anonymous source for CNET has described this particular smartphone having a case with a screen built-in. This strange contraption, with its name yet to be revealed, would double the total screen size of the device.

The second screen phone will be one of a number of LG devices expected to launch at the MWC. The multiple-screen phone isn’t predicted to carry the name of its flagship line, the G8 series, but it will be exciting to see what LG have come up with going into the biggest smartphone event of the year in Barcelona.

It’s unclear how many devices are being announced by LG just yet, but it will be something to keep an eye on as MWC’s opening takes place on February 25th.

With several companies set to be launching foldable smartphone devices over the course of 2019, this alternative may help LG to compete with the likes of Apple, Samsung and Huawei.

As reported by BUSINESSTECH, LG smartphone sales declined by 23% in 2018, making them the 7th most popular smartphone maker in the world, putting them behind the likes of Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.

Phones are just a small part of LG’s business, which is one of the reasons why some people believe they didn’t put as much emphasis into smartphones at CES this month. The biggest talking point of the event was the rollable OLED TV that rolls into a stand when not in use.

If the brand can generate as much hype with the phone as they did the TV, it could turn out to be a really successful reveal.
