In the aftermath of several deadly shootings in the U.S, Apple has made a change – by replacing their pistol emoji with a water pistol instead.
In the midst of mounting concern surrounding gun violence and gun control in America, Apple’s current black and silver revolver emoji is being deleted and changed to a bright green water pistol with a white trigger – quite the difference indeed.

Apple who have released over 100 new emojis, said in a statement:
This exciting update brings more gender options to existing characters, including new female athletes and professionals, adds beautiful redesigns of popular emoji, a new rainbow flag and more family options.

However, as you can probably expect, people are fucking fuming that the tech giants have taken away their gun emoji:
Apple can change the gun emoji to a water pistol, I'll just send pictures of actual guns instead. #PussificationOfAmerica

?? this is going to look ridiculous with a damn water pistol. Changing an emoji will not eliminate the gun control problem in the USA

FINALLY WE HAVE GUN CONTROL!
In #Murica it's easier to buy a real gun than it is to post a gun emoji! YES! WE! CAN!https://t.co/8UgQUZPyDd— Dr. Pablo Pistola (@drpablopistola) August 2, 2016

And yes, that’s just a few.
Personally, I think the change is definitely done with a good heart, but at the end of the day it’s a gun emoji. It’s not a real gun, it’s a minuscule sketch of a revolver. It’s not going to change anything.
Although guns are a very real and serious threat in America, and something which are the constant centre of debate, gun emojis never killed anybody.
