The Russian military has showcased a new robot with the ability to shoot guns in footage on Twitter.
The anthropomorphic killing machine has been christened FEDOR – or the less catchy Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research – and it is absolutely terrifying.
The robot wouldn’t look out of place in an epic film sci-fi battle scene; although sadly FEDOR has none of the charm of C3PO or the dry wit of K-2SO.
The robot was designed by a Russian tech company, in collaboration with a military research agency.
Andrey Grigoriev, director of Russia’s Advanced Research Fund said:
FEDOR was designed as an android able to replace humans in high-risk areas, such as rescue operations. For this purpose, it was necessary to teach him to work independently in an urban environment, navigate the terrain, drive a car, to handle special tools, first aid and other actions.
However, footage reveals FEDOR is also a crack-shot and it’s fully mobile hands and fingers can deploy guns in the blink of its AI eyes.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Dmitry Rogozin, boasted about the robotic beast, writing:
Shooting exercises are a method of teaching the robot to set priorities and make instant decisions.
We are creating AI, not Terminator.

This news comes a tensions rise between America, North Korea and Russia – and nuclear threat warnings between governments are batted around as if playing a tennis game.
It’s worrisome development is indicative of the time we live in; a time of great technological advancements and greater global unrest between major political powers.
