The all new Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is here and it’s a worthy successor to the Note 5.
Samsung just unveiled the latest Galaxy Note 7 and it’s a beast of a smartphone. It’s water resistant, offers an improved camera, and a design to die for.
After so many Galaxy Note 7 leaks and rumors, the wait is finally over!
Samsung just unveiled the all new Galaxy Note 7 at their Unpacked event in New York City today. It packs some welcomed updates and there’s a lot to like about Samsung’s latest Android phablet smartphone.
When it comes to its design, Samsung has made a subtle upgrade to the edges; it now offers a dual-edge Super Amoled display that makes it easy to hold in hand.
We loved the display quality of the Galaxy Note 5 and if it ain’t broke, why fix it? It offers a 5.7-inch SuperAmoled panel. Taking from its predecessor, the Note 7 display is 1440 x 2560 pixels with 518-pixel density.
Under the hood, there’s a 3,500 mAh battery for all day use and for such a huge smartphone, we expected nothing less.
The Note 7 is powerful and energy efficient
On the software side, the Note 7 is powered by Android 6.1 marshmallow with Samsung’s own overlay. LG recently announced they will be loading their upcoming V20 with Android 7.0 Nougat and we hope that Samsung will have an update soon after release.
Android 6.1 coupled with an Octa-core 2.3ghz and 1.6ghz 64-bit Exynos processor should see the Note 7 performance top the charts. There’ll also be a US variant with Snapdragon 820 processor.
With 14nm FinFET process technology used, it will be super-efficient and allow the applications to run smoothly without draining battery.
Amazing camera and lots of storage space for your photos and videos
In terms of storage, it will come with 64GB internal storage and you will be able to expand its storage with a microSD card, up to 256GB.
There’s a step down in camera pixel size to 12MP, however, with the same bigger sensor size like that of the Galaxy S7, we should see some great performance when it comes to low-light situations.
For those that love their selfies too, there’s a 5MP front-facing shooter, it offers better low-light performance and wide angle for those groufies.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is now water-resistant, even SPen
Onto the exciting bit: The Galaxy Note 7 is now water-resistant with an IP68 rating, so you can use it out in the rain without worrying about getting it damaged.
What’s even more impressive is that the SPen is also water-resistant so you can use it even when it’s wet.
SPen has improved too; it offers a better precision when using it to write and for the wanderlust ones out there, you can also use it to translate from one language to another by hovering over words, however, it can only do so one word at a time.
You can even unlock your Galaxy Note 7 with your eyes
It doesn’t end there, the Note 7 now features an Iris Scanner. The rumoured feature is actually a reality but doesn’t take away from using your fingerprint if you prefer.
One thing to bear in mind is that the iris scanner feature will take some getting used to, as it requires you to stretch your arms out to get your iris scanned. It’s not a facial recognition system like that of the Surface Pro 4.
