Good news for anyone who’s ever thought ‘I love my phone, but I wish it would fold in half’, as Samsung have finally unveiled the Galaxy Fold.
Featuring the world’s first 7.3-inch Flex Display – which allows the phone to fold in half but still retain a cover display – the new phone seems set to remind some people of their old flip phones, while baffling those youngsters who weren’t around for the heady early days of mobile phone technology.
When it’s unfolded, the phone’s screen will be Samsung’s largest ever smartphone display, allowing users to easily multitask, watch videos, play games, and a whole lot more.

Such mind-bending (get it) technology doesn’t come cheap however, as the new phone comes with the hefty price tag of $1,980.
If you’re up for it though, the smartphone launches on April 26 in America, and May 3 in Europe, and you’ll be able to choose between the colours ‘Cosmo Black’, ‘Space Silver’, ‘Martian Green’ and ‘Astro Blue’ – is there a theme here?
Samsung claims the foldable screen has been tested to withstand 200,000 folds, according to Engadget. This means that it should withstand 100 folds a day over a five year period, which is reassuring.
The phone has a 420 dpi density, which is decent for tablet let alone a phone, with a resolution of 1,536 x 2,152 when unfolded, and 840 x 1,960 when folded. It’s also remarkably slim for a folding phone, coming in at just 17mm when folded and only 6.9mm when open.
The phone also comes with wireless charging, a bigger battery, dual AKG speakers and a total of six cameras – two per side – so all bases are covered.
