This Is How To ‘Delete Yourself’ From The Internet

The modern world is a weird one. It’s a place where we are all obsessed with remaining social, yet we do so by gazing at our mobile phones – alone.

Wherever you are or wherever you go just look around. Restaurants, cafes, pubs, train stations, they are full to the brim with people almost in a comatosed hypnotic state endlessly scrolling through mind-numbing apps, reports Indy100.

However aside from the mundanity of how far technology has come, there is a dark side to social media. Identity theft, cyber crime, and fraud are all spiralling to previously unforeseen heights.

Oh and if the controversial Snooper’s Charter isn’t blocked then absolutely every single thing you do online will be saved in some gargantuan database for the next 12 months.

Now I don’t know about you but personally I’d just love to slip away from the world of the Internet and float off to some isolated log cabin in the woods but deleting yourself from the Internet is hard work.

If only there was a website that could help us out?!

Enter deseat.me, a site developed by Swedish developers, Wille Dahlbo and Linus Unnebäck, which can quite literally erase the bulk of your online existence from the Internet in just a matter of seconds.

All you have to do is log in with your Google account and Deseat.me will provide you with a list of every account connected to the email.

Then, instead of having to visit each site individually to delete your account, Deseat.me takes you directly to the part of the site where you can remove your account so that you can essentially delete them all incredibly quickly.

Unfortunately, however, Deseat.me only works on your Google accounts thus far which means your Yahoo and Hotmail linked accounts remain still out there, untouched.

There are some other devices such as Just Delete Me and Account Killer which provide you with the means to delete all of your accounts – however these are only effective if you know exactly which accounts you want to delete.

Alternatively you could just pop your laptop down, shut off the internet, and throw your phone out of the window – but admittedly, that’s probably not the most popular choice…
