U.S military chiefs have warned that Russian scientists are in the process of creating ‘superhuman soldiers’.
Military science experts believe Russia is leading the way in the quest to develop the ultimate super soldier, reports the Daily Star.
The Russians are allegedly using steroids and other performance enhancing drugs to make soldiers tougher on the battlefield.
As well as this, defence experts believe the use of brain implants to allow soldiers to shoot with better accuracy are being researched and even the use of bio-technologies that could allow men to fix their own wounds without the need for medics.
U.S Deputy Secretary of Defence and Pentagon commander Bob Work, said:
Our adversaries are pursuing enhanced human operations and it scares the crap out of us.
The former battalion commander said the U.S is working on technology such as exoskeletons to assist soldiers and it is rumoured that America’s secret science DARPA division is exploring the tech needed to create super soldiers.
The revelations about the Russian programme aren’t hard to believe given the state-sponsored doping programme that has seen hundreds of their athletes banned from the Rio Olympics.
Former U.S Air Force Colonel Dave Shunk wrote in a report about the future of warfare:
The soldier of the future likely will be enhanced through neuroscience, biotechnology, nanotechnology, genetics, and drugs.
However, the effort to create super humans is not new – German troops were fed ‘performance enhancers’ during World War 2.
And as early as the 1920s, moustached dictator Joseph Stalin allegedly told scientist Ilya Ivanov:
I want a new invincible human being, insensitive to pain, resistant and indifferent about the quality of food they eat.
It all sounds pretty terrifying to me – I’m not saying Terminator will definitely happen but…
