Following a successful trial in London, Uber customers in eight other UK cities can now book their journeys up to a month in advance.
Scheduled Rides will allow people in Manchester, Bristol, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham, Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow to schedule their Uber from as little as 15 minutes to as many as 30 days in advance.
The scheme was launched in London last month and has been an overwhelming success – already registering tens of thousands of uses in the capital, reports Manchester Evening News (MEN).

You can access the feature by heading to the app as normal, but choosing ‘schedule a ride’ rather than booking the journey. Then you pick the time, date and location you want to be picked up, and that’s it.
The app will send one reminder the day before the journey and another to say a car is en route and you can cancel it any time up until five minutes before your lift is due to arrive.
The rides should cost the same as a normal Uber journey, and are subject to any surge pricing in place when the journey is booked.

Mustafa Khanbhai, Uber’s general manager in Manchester, told the MEN:
People love being able to tap a button on their phone and a book a car that arrives in just a few minutes – but we know there are times when you want Uber to take care of it.
So instead of tapping a button a few minutes before you need your ride, you can now tell us hours or days in advance when you need a car and we’ll do it for you.
Is game changer too strong?
