Problems with the popular messaging app began shortly after 4.30PM and reports of issues soared after that, according to website DownDetector.
The website – which keeps track of service interruptions and outrages – stated that the outrage was mainly confined to the UK and Germany, with the U.S. largely unaffected.
DownDetectorWhatsApp has a user based of almost one billion, with more than 10 billion messages sent every day it’s pretty easy to see why everyone lost their shit a bit.
Coupled with the fact that it’s happened on New Year’s Eve – traditionally their busiest day – users seemed pretty gutted when they took to Twitter…
