WhatsApp went down briefly, stopping some users from sending and receiving messages and it’s fair to say they were not happy…
Problems with the popular messaging app began shortly after 4.30PM and reports of issues soared after that, according to website DownDetector.
The website – which keeps track of service interruptions and outrages – stated that the outrage was mainly confined to the UK and Germany, with the U.S. largely unaffected.
WhatsApp has a user based of almost one billion, with more than 10 billion messages sent every day it’s pretty easy to see why everyone lost their shit a bit.
Coupled with the fact that it’s happened on New Year’s Eve – traditionally their busiest day – users seemed pretty gutted when they took to Twitter…
It’s been 20 minutes since #Whatsapp went down and not a single tweet from @whatsapp. Do they know the world has stopped moving?

Well at least we might be a bit more sociable this New Year’s Eve, oh, and not be able to send drunken messages to our ex’s either. Win win.
