Who needs to use words to communicate anymore?
Feeling sad? Send a sad face emoji. Feeling hungry? Send a picture of a burger.
We now have multiple ways to express how we’re feeling in not so many words – and the world loves it.
But we can only say so much with those little ideograms, and they don’t always do the trick (we’re looking at you medical mask emoji).
What the Internet has really been screaming out for on WhatsApp, though, is GIFS. They’ve been around for ages, but they haven’t made it to the messaging app just yet. Until now.
It looks like WhatsApp has now caught up with Twitter, Facebook Messenger and the rest of the world.
A NEW FEATURE IS HERE.. #GIF SUPPORT IS COMING!
WAIT MORE DETAILS IN MY CHANGELOG.— WABetaInfo (@WABetaInfo) June 7, 2016
The new feature hasn’t been officially announced yet, but folks over at @WABetaInfo noticed the update in a beta version of the app.
Finally, you’ll be allowed to troll your friends with all the GIFS the Internet has to offer – and it will all come neatly packed in the 2.16.7.1 version, according to the Mirror.
Note about GIF support. #whatsappbeta #iOS.

The good news? You’ll be able to send all the GIFS you want. The bad news? It doesn’t look like there will be a GIF library to tap into like on the Facebook Messenger app.
Either way, GIFS are coming to WhatsApp. Finally.
