Woman’s Phone Explodes In Car After The Battery Was Replaced At Unofficial Repair Shop

If you’re the kind of person not to be cowed into getting your iPhone fixed at an official Apple store by an official Genius at the possibility of your device being bricked by an update then maybe this footage will change your mind.

It’s a tough decision – admittedly I’ve had phones fixed by street vendors in the past but from personal experience an over zealous swiping session can crack a screen and God forbid dropping said ‘fixed’ phone in water, it’ll be a goner – but sometimes it just makes sense to spend a few extra pennies to get the pros in.

One unfortunate iPhone user in China found out the hard way as this footage shows, as she had to abandon her car in the middle of the motorway as it exploded and buurst into flames on her dashboard.

That’s not even a whimper of a flame. That’s Targaryen dragon levels of flames right there. And right in front of you on your dash. Can you smell nose hair?

The woman from Shanghai’s Minhang district in East China can be seen driving along when BOOM! her Apple iPhone 6 explodes like a Kim Kardashian selfie on Instagram.

She brakes, as most people would with an exploding phone in their face, but realises she’s in traffic and ostructing the inside lane.

Just 20 seconds later the phone goes off again – like mine does on a Friday night from too many Tinder matches – with flames erupting leaving the poor driver in shock, screaming.

She can be heard getting out of the car and is surrounded by concerned drivers.

She tells a passing motorist who has stopped to check on her:

My phone exploded! My phone exploded!

The woman’s husband, Mr Jiang, said the phone had its battery replaced in a local mobile phone repair service in February.

The service centre reportedly took the phone back and gave them a new battery after it exploded, but won’t take ‘further responsibility’. They’re refusing to compensate them financially for the burnt dashboard and are refusing to fix the iPhone.

Sounds like a mobile phone repair service anywhere in the world tbh.

He said:

She was driving alone; no one touched the phone. It just suddenly blew up. She wasn’t charging or even using it at the time.

When we bought the battery from Hoho Fast in February, they told us it was genuine.

They’re refusing to take further responsibility and won’t compensate us.

He added:

We asked them for a new phone. They say they can only give us a second-hand one.

It’s like they’re squeezing us like a tube of toothpaste. They’ll squeeze us until we run out of patience and give up, then the case is closed for them.

The couple are still negotiating with the business over compensation.

Social media users, however, said the woman was to blame for leaving the iPhone on her dashboard.

One person wrote:

It’s extremely hot in the summer and you leave your phone exposed to the sun. It’s obviously going to explode, you idiot!

And you’re blaming the phone?

Nah, I think it’s quite clear they’re blaming the phone shop where they got it from.

But let’s not let details get in the way of calling women idiots.

Don’t leave phones in hot cars anyway. They might explode. Or worse, your car will get broken into.
